TURTLE REEF SHORE DIVING

Welcome to Turtle Reef, one of the best shore diving sites on Grand Cayman! From the safety and comfort of our cove, you will find hard pan that is teaming with marine life, great for snorkelers and photographers alike - but this is just the beginning! The 'mini wall' is full of coral and marine life, all between 25-40 feet.

Follow the gradual decline straight out from shore and find yourself in the middle of a breathtaking dive site.  If you choose to go to the left (south), nestled in the coral wall you will find our famous tarpon cave with 30-50 tarpon to swim with during the day, and a maximum depth of 60 feet. Turn right (north), you will enjoy stunning coral formations and maximum depth of 70 feet. On either side you can find stingrays and eagle rays in the sand flats just out from the wall, and don't forget to glance up for the lucky few have even spotted the occasional manta ray just beneath the surface. Eels are very common throughout the site, including green morays, golden tail morays, spotted morays, and on occasion snake eels and viper morays.

The reef is known as Turtle Reef because of our frequent visits from sea turtles of all sizes.  Come in the morning for the best chance to find a turtle, though we do spot them throughout the day.  The mini-wall hosts schooling snapper, grunts, chromis and many other tropical fish so you truly feel like you are inside an aquarium.  Keep your eyes peeled for one or two octopus, which are occasionally out during the day, though night dives are the best for spotting these amazing creatures.  If you're interested in a deeper dive, our main wall hosts and array of sea life as well as very well developed sponges and coral formations.  Watch your depth though, the water visibility is often well above 100 feet!  Definitely bring your camera when diving this site!

We have a great facility to make your dive easy and comfortable.  We offer a nice, wide ladder (more like a stair case) for your water entrance/exit, fresh water shower, rinse tanks, and benches to setup and gear up on.  Sun Divers offers very nice rental gear sized to each diver, as well as tank and weight rentals.  Our in-house, Padi-recognized trainers, Happy Fish Divers, offers training from DSD (come try a dive) up to divemaster (www.happyfishdivers.com). The instruction is often one on one which enables extremely personalized education and unmatched service.

So come and enjoy a dive with us!
